This is educated Pop art, toasting Rembrandt, Ingres and Manet - great-great-granddaddy of Pop - with a bottle of Bass nicked off ‘The Bar at the Folies-Bergères’. In surprisingly tender images like ‘The Kiss II’, 2008… Laing reprises Sixties cool with feeling: his technique is unaltered, but he is older and wiser.
